My journey into videography really began during the pandemic in 2020, when I bought the Canon R6. With more time on my hands, I started exploring what mirrorless cameras could do, and that’s when I realised just how transformative their autofocus capabilities were.
In the past, shooting video meant manual focus, deep depth of field, and limited creative control. But with the Canon R6, and later the R5, everything changed. The autofocus was fast, accurate, and reliable, it opened up the possibility of using shallow depth of field in motion, something I’d always wanted to do.
I began shooting short clips, experimenting with light, movement, and sound. Gradually, I started combining these moments into short films, each one teaching me something new about visual storytelling.
Yes, video is hard work, it takes time, processing power, and plenty of hard drive space — but it’s also an incredibly immersive way to tell stories. For me, it captures the emotion, rhythm, and realism of the wild in a way stills sometimes can’t. It lets people not just see wildlife, but feel it.
Below are a few examples of my recent video work, each one a step forward in learning how to bring the natural world to life through motion.
Year of the Tiger, 2022

Jhalana, City of Leopards
Jhalana Leopard Reserve sits right on the edge of Jaipur, offering a rare chance to film truly wild leopards within view of a thriving city. A handful of bold leopards have adapted to this urban fringe, making sightings possible — but success still demands patience, skill, and a deep understanding of leopard behaviour.
That’s where the guide makes all the difference. I was lucky to have Hemant Dabi as my Leopard Man, his knowledge and instincts were key to tracking and capturing these moments. You can reach him at +91 83869 65633.
Filming during the transition from scorching summer heat to the first monsoon rains brought its own challenges, but it also revealed rare, atmospheric moments you wouldn’t see in any other season.

The Rut
A short visual insight into the feeling and emotion of the Red Deer Rut at the Royal Parks, London.
Leading up to October, sexually mature red deer stags have prepare for the most important time of their lives, access to a harem of females. To have mating rights Stags often assert their position by bellowing quite loudly. If this is not enough to ward off rival males, a parallel-walk occurs where the males scope each other out. If this does not work, then a fight occurs with locking antlers.
This video was shot on the Canon EOS R5 and 400mm f2.8 IS II L handheld for the most part. Shot in 4k for HD delivery in Davinci Resolve.
